Blue Nitro is an American rock, blues and funk band formed in Chicago in 2016. The band breathes new life into the blues rock genre by mixing raw and punchy guitar with driving, funky beats and thumping bass. Their debut EP, Fueled Up, was released on February 1, 2019.

Founder Dean Sarantos is a veteran of Midwestern-based rock and blues bands, ranging from U.S. club tours to sharing stages with international recording artists.

In 2016, Dean began working on the amalgam of rock, funk and blues that became Blue Nitro.  Dean recruited Cheryl O. (vocals), Chris Hopper (bass) and John Marrella (drums), formerly of Lovin' Spoonful and Head East to form the band. In late 2018, Gil Cadrecha was recruited as the current drummer.

Gil, a formally trained drummer with over forty years of experience, performs in a variety of music genres and brings his jazz and Latin/Afro-Cuban musical influences to the band. Jazz, Big Band, R&B, Country, as well as worship drumming in various churches has kept him busy playing throughout the Chicagoland area.

Cheryl brings a strong stage presence and deep background in singing rock, soul and blues.  She has a powerful, soulful style and has a love of "guitar-slinger" music.

Chris is an eclectic musician whose interests span from Americana to hard funk to jazz and just about everywhere in between, laying down a heavy bottom line with his bass guitar.

Today, Blue Nitro is entertaining audiences and gaining fans with its scintillating show and top notch musicianship. Please sign up for our mailing list by clicking on the Contact link to keep in touch!
